Greenville, S.C. – The 4th Annual FCA Jamboree “Celebrating Coaches of Influence” presented by St Francis Sports Medicine is set for Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Younts Stadium, North Greenville University. Participating teams will compete for one half of football action as follows:

4:00 - Carolina vs Wade Hampton
5:00 - Southside Christian vs Travelers Rest
6:00 - Blue Ridge vs Hillcrest
7:00 - Halftime recognition honoring John West –Coach of Influence
7:30 - CCES vs JL Mann
8:30 - Brynes vs Greer
Recognizing the tremendous influence that coaches have on their players, their high school campuses and their communities FCA is proud to celebrate coaches who use athletics to teach many positive life lessons.
The 2011 Coach of Influence committee has chosen John C. West, as this year’s recipient. Coach West coached for 25 years at the high school and collegiate level. Nominated by one of his former student athletes, Coach West is a coach who is making or has made an eternal impact in athletes through the display of Christ-like character both on and off the field of play; and who embodies the four core values of FCA in his coaching and daily life: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence.” Coach West began FCA on the Furman campus. He served on the Board of Trustees for the FCA National Board.
The late David Farnham was our first recipient in 2008 and Coach Louis Golden was our recipient in 2009, and in 2010 Coach Jim Howard.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, founded in 1954, challenges coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America and is a national 501c3 nonprofit organization. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
